On June 11th, we announced the release of Pointr Maps™ v9.0 which introduces six exciting updates that make mapping, monitoring, and managing your spaces faster and easier than ever. Below is a quick overview, with links to demo clips showing each feature in action.
Direction summaries show the next step of the user’s wayfinding process.
Route timeline and progress give users an at-a-glance view of their route progress and upcoming transitions.
Transition icons for stairs, elevators, and escalators are clearly shown on the map and in the route summary, making it easy for users to spot transitions along their path.
Arrival summaries are a fun new feature that shows users how much time it took to reach a wayfinding destination, the distance they covered, and their step count.
Pointr Express® Link Service lets you update QR code links via the API without needing to reprint.
Supports expiring tokens and misuse prevention.
Location-specific QR codes let you keep track of which code is scanned and where.
Note: If you’re currently using v8.x for your QR codes, you'll need to update and reprint them for v9.0, then never again because v9.0 QR codes are token-based.
Anonymized insights into your beacon infrastructure based on how people move through your spaces.
Identify missing, misplaced, or unexpected beacons
Monitor signal strength, phone location, beacon location, device info, and time seen for each beacon
Monitoring this data will help us create new reports that will make it easy for you to monitor and manage your infrastructure.
Pointr’s AI-powered mapping engine - MapScale® - now uses multi-modal LLMs, greatly improving its effectiveness for complex spaces.
Expands AI-powered mapping to more complex spaces like healthcare, hospitality, education, and workplace. More sectors to come in the future!
Uses both visual and linguistic intelligence to improve classification of spaces and shapes by 34%.
Publishing is now site-level, so you control what gets published and when. No more waiting for all sites or accidentally publishing partial changes!
Any changes you make in Pointr Cloud are published within seconds.
Better UI for Pointr Maps™ SDK-level map settings, configurable from the Pointr Cloud UI.
Publish changes separately from map content changes, like POI updates. This keeps your teams moving quickly and efficiently.
The star of the show! Our new MapScale® Wizard is a simple, intuitive, five-step Pointr Cloud UI that makes mapping multi-level buildings easier and faster than ever. Here’s what the process is like:
Select a building type (e.g., hospital, office) and enter metadata (Type, Name, External ID). The auto-select tool outlines the building boundary for you based on OpenStreetMap data. Just hover, click, and confirm.
Upload floor plans in bulk instead of one at a time, and run MapScale® with a single click.
Align floors with each other. MapScale® accuracy rarely requires adjustment, but it’s easy when necessary.
Fine-tune building placement on the real-world map. Just set position anchors on building corners to establish the georeference, then confirm.
Review and finalize. Done!
We’re pleased and excited to bring you these updates. If you have questions, your Pointr Account Manager will help you with the process.
The v9.0 update also brings changes to our SDKs, Express Maps™, and our backend systems, laying the foundation for a more enterprise-ready platform.
We will continue to maintain and support v8.x.
