Missed our October 28th demo session? Here’s a summary of what’s new in Pointr Maps™ v9.2.
v9.2 brings some exciting updates to map management, SDK tools, and cloud deployment. The new Pointr Cloud offers a faster, more fluid navigation experience, while enhanced SDK features and AWS hosting support give you more flexibility to build, customize, and deploy at scale.
Pointr Cloud now offers a smoother and faster map content management experience. The new layout includes a cross-site search and browsing for POIs, geofences, wayfinding paths, and beacons. Navigation between buildings and levels is more fluid, and the new Outline View shows all content in one place.
Why it matters
Facilities and digital mapping teams can find and manage map content more quickly, reducing setup time and improving efficiency across complex venues
Pointr Maps now includes sector-based styles for specific venue types such as workplaces, events, healthcare, and aviation. Each style is optimized for zoom levels and POI hierarchy, ensuring that end users always see the most relevant information first.
Why it matters
Operators get consistent map visuals out of the box, and users see clearer information based on venue context.
Dynamic POI Styling makes it easy for maps to update automatically based on live data. POIs can change color, icon, height, or visibility in real time. For example, showing available rooms in green or hiding closed areas.
Why it matters
Operations and experience managers can reflect real-world conditions instantly, from meeting room or desk availability to hiding restricted areas or highlighting live events, all managed directly through the SDK.
Pointr Express® now supports dynamic parameters, offering two flexible options for managing links and QR codes:
Both options make it easier to reuse links while keeping content up to date.
Why it matters
System administrators and kiosk managers can choose the best approach for their workflow, simplifying link management, reducing maintenance time, and avoiding unnecessary redeployments.
Developers can now trigger common SDK actions with a single line of code, including wayfinding, highlighting a POI or category, and marking or showing a parked car. The SDK automatically manages its lifecycle within the MapWidget, removing the need for manual start or stop calls during setup.
Why it matters
Developers can write less code, reduce integration errors, and test features more quickly. This streamlines app development, shortens deployment cycles, and makes it easier to maintain clean, lightweight codebases.
Our SDK now supports Flutter, in addition to React Native, Cordova, and Ionic Capacitor. Developers can build for iOS and Android using a single Dart codebase while accessing all core SDK features, including maps, blue dot positioning, and wayfinding.
Why it matters
Mobile developers can choose their preferred framework — Flutter, React Native, Cordova, or Ionic Capacitor — to build cross-platform apps faster with less maintenance. This flexibility ensures consistent performance, simpler SDK integration, and shorter development cycles without separate native builds.
Pointr Cloud can now be deployed natively on AWS, in addition to existing support for Microsoft Azure. The platform is built on a cloud-agnostic, containerized architecture using services such as AWS EC2, S3, CloudFront, and RDS for secure, automated deployments.
Why it matters
IT and infrastructure teams can deploy Pointr Cloud on their preferred environment — whether AWS or Azure — while maintaining enterprise-grade performance, scalability, and security.
